Young winger Owura Edwards was pleased to see his hard work rewarded with a ten-minute appearance in City’s 3-0 win over Millwall in the Emirates FA Cup,
Edwards replaced Zak Vyner in the 80th minute of Saturday’s Fourth Round victory to get his first runout in City colours.
“I was calm but at the same time I had a rush of adrenaline,” the 19-year-old told Robins TV. “He (Dean Holden) was talking to me on the sideline and telling me to enjoy it and work hard.
“I feel really good. This is something I’ve been working towards and I’m happy to have been given my opportunity.”
“My whole family would’ve been watching that game and though I haven’t been on my phone yet, but I think I’ll see all their message to say ‘well done’. I think they’ll be proud of me.”
Edwards is the latest youngster to have been given an opportunity in Holden’s squad this season. His brother Opi made his Sky Bet Championship debut earlier in the campaign, as have the likes of Sam Bell and James Morton who made an appearance in the Carabao Cup.
Edwards said: “They (City coaches) trust the young players, they believe in them, they want us to improve and that’s what I love about this club – they give us youngsters opportunities and that’s good.
“Now I just want to make more appearances for Bristol City, keep working hard to become a better player than I was last year, and get some goals and assists.”
City advanced to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup where they face Sheffield United away, thanks to goals from Famara Diédhiou, Nahki Wells and Antoine Semenyo at the Den.
Next for the Robins is a return to Ashton Gate where Holden’s men tackle Huddersfield in the Championship on Tuesday (January 26th, 7pm KO), live on Robins TV.
Bristol Bears completed their eighth win in 11 games this season as they beat Leicester 17-3 to cement their place at the top.
