Osborne Makes U's Switch

Karleigh Osborne has joined Colchester United on loan until May 4th.

The 26-year-old defender has been forced to wait for first team opportunities during 2014/15 and now has the chance to go out and play regular football in Essex.

Osborne joined the club on loan from Millwall in 2013 before penning a permanent deal. He has played 32 times for City.

The loan deal includes a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days.

Manager Steve Cotterill said: "Karleigh needs this loan, he needs to be playing games. We've been lucky with how well our centre-backs have done in terms of performance and fitness. Hopefully that will continue and if that's the case then it could be a season wasted for Karleigh.

"Who knows, had Karleigh not suffered that injury in Botswana then he may have started the season. Aden Flint had only just come back from a long injury but he took his opportunity and hasn't looked back.

"This loan move has been on the cards for a few weeks but obviously it couldn't happen before we played them. He goes there for the rest of the season and we've got a recall clause after 28 days. If anything happens between then and now, the loan market is still available, so the timings are in our favour.

"I hope Karleigh goes there and does well. He's a great boy and epitomises the spirit in our squad."
