On this day: Crystal Palace 1-2 City (play-off s/f 1st leg)

City and Palace would go head to head for a spot in the play-off final and a shot at a place in the Premier League at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.

It was David Noble's stunning injury time goal which gave City the advantage at half-time of this two-legged contest.

Gary Johnson's side had taken the lead at Selhurst Park through a top corner effort from Louis Carey.

However, Palace were level from the spot when Carey fouled Jose Fonte and Ben Watson did the honours for the hosts.

Palace had not lost in their last 12 matches but City would put end to that when Noble, some 30 yards from goal, unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner.
