Callum O’Dowda says there were positives to take as City battled back to draw with Wigan Athletic on Sunday.
Man of the Match O’Dowda, whose runs caused issues for Wigan’s defence, said it was “a big relief” to see Pedro Pereira’s equaliser in the 86th minute.
The right-back rose to meet Niclas Eliasson’s corner and glance the ball beyond David Marshall at the near post.
“It was a big relief, especially the way the game was going,” O’Dowda said. “There were so many decision that you thought this wouldn’t be our day and then it was nice to get the luck. It was a great ball from Nic and we had put the pressure on, still trying to play and that was where we lacked today.
“We needed to go for it a bit more. But that’s the beauty of the Championship, there are games around the corner and Friday [versus Barnsley] can’t come quickly enough.”
He looked back on the game with “frustration” but pleased to see another result grounded out.
O’Dowda explained: “We didn’t really get going in the game but the positives to take are that we take the point and that’s the way we are at the moment. We are playing well and even when we aren’t, we are getting good results. We did grow into it, but we know we should be doing better.
“We will analyse a lot of it and get back to the training ground. We’re good at bouncing back and we will move on to Barnsley. That will be a good game, there a few familiar faces there too and it will be a good test.”
City now prepare for back-to-back away games versus Barnsley and Cardiff City.
