Callum O’Dowda admits he needs to “put a marker down” and take his opportunity of regular match action at Ashton Gate.
Signed in the summer from Oxford United, O’Dowda started the first three Sky Bet Championship games of the season but has only began five more league games since.
However, with fellow winger Luke Freeman having now completed a transfer to QPR, O’Dowda is hoping to make his mark.
He told Bristol City Player HD: “Luke hadn’t been involved in recent weeks and that’s given me the opportunity to take things by the scruff of the neck.
“I want to put a marker down now. He was a fantastic player for the club and I’d like to do what he was able to do for City.
“I’m feeling good. Over the last few games I feel like I’ve upped my game.
“I’ve been working hard on and off the pitch, and from speaking to the gaffer he feels it’s really paying off, which is good.”
He added: “I know I’ve played in a number of positions, but I don’t really have a favourite one. I played as a number ten at Oxford United for a bit; I enjoy playing on the left as I can be direct, but also on the right flank because then I’m able to cut in on my left foot.
“To be honest as long as I’m on the pitch, that’s all that matters because I want to have an impact on the team.
“We’ve got a massive week with two home games in a few days and we need to be positive. Two wins could really push us up the table.”
The match will also be pay on the night for home supporters. Tickets remain on general sale for the Sheffield Wednesday clash, either online or by calling 0117 963 0600 during office hours.
