O’Dowda to host Battle Royale for charity

Callum O’Dowda has devised the perfect event for all Fortnite gamers while helping to raise valuable funds for Children’s Hospice South West.

O’Dowda has teamed up with AFC Bournemouth’s David Brooks and Liverpool’s Harry Wilson who is currently on loan with the Cherries, to host the online tournament which gets underway on Saturday (May 9th).

To enter, supporters who play Fortnite simply need to sign in to JustGiving, donate £10 and include their Epic Gamer Tag in the message. When donating, please select the ‘share contact details’ box so the entry details and instructions on how to play on the day can be shared with you.

Fans who do not wish to compete in the tournament but would still like to make a donation can do so via the same JustGiving page.

All donations raised from the event will go to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) – City's charity of choice and one close to O’Dowda’s heart – which is located a short distance from the club’s Failand training facility.

CHSW supports over 500 children with life-limiting conditions and their families by providing respite care, emergency care, end of life care and bereavement support.

They have adapted their day-to-day care provision to help keep vulnerable children out of hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring care is provided wherever it is needed most.

Speaking of the charity's fantastic work, O’Dowda said: “I’ve been an ambassador for Children’s Hospice South West for some time now and during this unprecedented period I would like to raise as much money as I can to support their amazing work.

“Coronavirus has seen their charity shops closed and multiple fundraiser events have been cancelled so they need your support more than ever as they need to raise £11m per year to offer the services they do.

“I want to raise as much money as I can so I thought it would be a good idea to connect footballers with fans. I thought of this Fortnite tournament and believe it could be a great way to get people involved in a fantastic cause.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is going to compete in this tournament and also all the amazing staff who work at the Children’s Hospice, NHS staff and other frontline services throughout this time – you’re all doing a brilliant job.”

Prizes are available to competitors who finish in the top three:

1st place - £500 Nike voucher and £235 Stub Hub voucher
2nd place - £250 Nike voucher and £235 Stub Hub Voucher
3rd place - £100 Rewired Clothing voucher and £235 Stub Hub Voucher
