Steve Lansdown says the promotion-winning feeling is one that can’t be beaten.
Bristol City secured their place in the Sky Bet Championship for next season with a stunning 6-0 win at Bradford City, and will now clinch the title if they defeat Coventry City at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
Speaking amidst the joyous scenes at Valley Parade, the club’s majority shareholder said: “This is why we do it.
“You go through a lot of bad times and low points, but when the good times come along you have to enjoy them.
“You can’t better this feeling. It was a top-class performance to win promotion; we won it in style.
“Hopefully we can go on finishing in style and win the league title before looking forward to playing in the Championship next season.”
He added: “You get desperate during the low points and ever wonder if the good times will come around again, but of course they do.
“It makes it all worth it. The fans who made the trip up have thoroughly enjoyed their night and now let’s get back to Ashton Gate on Saturday (against Coventry City) and celebrate again.
“This is a great moment but this is the third promotion I’ve experienced from the third tier to the second tier. The previous two were as runners-up; we haven’t won a title in 60 years.
“Winning the title would mean so much to me – it would be perfect.”
