Nine Bristol City Women players have been selected for their respective national teams in the latest international window.
Danique Kerkdijk has travelled to the Netherlands to link up with the Dutch women’s national side, who face Switzerland in the final of the FIFA World Cup play-offs. The winner of the two-leg tie will secure a place at the FIFA World Cup that will be held in France this coming summer.
Katie Rood has also been named in the New Zealand Women’s national side for the upcoming OFC Women’s Nations Cup. Rood could win her second cap for the Football Ferns as they face the Cook Island, Tonga and Fiji later this month.
Scotland have selected central-defender, Frankie Brown for their upcoming friendly with USA on November 13th. Scotland recently made history by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup following a scintillating campaign which saw them dramatically qualify in Albania.
Alicia Johnson and Jess Woolley will attend Lionesses under-21 and under-18 camps respectively, whilst Gemma Evans has been named in the latest Wales national squad for their upcoming training camp.
After a fantastic start to the season, Julie Biesmans has received another call-up to the Belgian Red Flames squad, whilst Juliette Kemppi will link up with the Finnish national side over the next week.
Finally, Heather Payne will join up with the senior Republic of Ireland squad after impressing on duty with the under-19s in their latest European Championship qualifiers.
All players will return to Bristol in the early part of next week as City Women prepare to face Liverpool Women, who sit one point and one place above Oxtoby’s side in the Women’s Super League table.
The round eight Women’s Super Leagues fixture which is to be played on Saturday, November 17th (3pm) has been selected to be broadcast live on BT Sport from the SGS College Stoke Gifford Stadium.
