Bristol City are targeting their largest crowd for 20 years when Newcastle United visit Ashton Gate a week today (Saturday, August 20th, 3pm).

Tickets for the Sky Bet Championship clash with Rafa Benitez’s side go on general sale at 10am, with a crowd in excess of 18,000 already guaranteed.

The away end is sold out for the Newcastle fixture, while no tickets will be available in the home end of the Atyeo Stand.

Only once since the Atyeo Stand was built in 1994 has Ashton Gate played host to a City match with a crowd in excess of 20,000. That was for the Bristol derby of January 1996 when 20,007 packed into the stadium.

Next Saturday’s league clash with the relegated Magpies could easily surpass that figure.

Adult ticket prices start from £28 for members and £33 for non-members, while prices for under-12s remain £5 for members, £10 for non-members.

Tickets can be bought online only throughout the weekend. From Monday at 10am, supporters will be able to secure a seat by phone on 0117 963 0600.

Tickets for the league clash with Aston Villa a week later (August 27th, 3pm) go on general sale at the same time.
