New Year’s Day in BS3

Supporters can be the “12th man” as City look to start the New Year in style.

Brentford are City’s opponents on Wednesday and Lee Johnson's men are looking to build on their comfortable 3-0 win over Luton Town last time out.

Goals from Marley Watkins, Andreas Weimann and Famara Diédhiou dealt the damage in Ashton Gate that afternoon and just three days later they will be back out on the pitch to face Thomas Frank’s Brentford on January 1st.

Looking ahead to the January 1st encounter, goalscorer Watkins said: “It’s going to be a new challenge the next game. We have to recover well, prepare for it and we need to make this place a fortress. The fans were great against Luton and hopefully they will be our 12th man again.”

Jack Hunt, who was voted Man of the Match against Luton, is also looking forward to the Sky Bet Championship test with the Bees.

Hunt said: “We haven’t got much time to enjoy this. We are back in for preparations for Brentford and hopefully we’ll put on another show like that and get the three points.”

More than 19,500 tickets have been sold for this gold category fixture, which sees Adult tickets starting from £30 and £25 for members.

The match against the Bees is the second of three home fixtures in seven days, with Shrewsbury Town arriving in BS3 on Saturday, January 4th (12.31pm KO) as the Robins kick-off their Emirates FA Cup campaign.
