City’s new signings are ‘hungry for success’ according to Nigel Pearson.
As Kal Naismith, Mark Sykes, Kane Wilson joined their new team-mates for the start of pre-season training, the manager gave Robins TV his reflections on the trio signed early in the transfer window, alongside Timm Klose.
Pearson said: “The players that have come in recognise that the club has capabilities to be successful. They are all really hungry for success. When you look at the interviews that all of them have done upon joining us, there is a maturity there."
Pearson added: “I get the sense when talking to those players that they are aware of what is required. They all have different backgrounds but all three have them had a really good season at their previous clubs. It’s about having players who are prepared to take on a tough challenge.
“They will definitely make us a better team this year and I think to build on the positives of last season is important for us. With the four signings we’ve made so far we’ve got players who want to be here and want to be successful, that’s very important for us.”
Pearson reflected on Antoine Semenyo’s shin injury sustained on Ghana duty; Ayman Benarous’ recover from his knee injury; the benefit of City’s European training camp next week; and more than 13,000 Season Tickets for next season.
“Hopefully they recognise that we’re moving in the right direction,” added Pearson. “I think it’s a very important thing for the football club that the fans are backing us. The fans would like to see a bit more consistency and hopefully we can deliver that.”
Andi Weimann and Nahki Wells will attend City’s training camp but Alex Scott will be missing as he is away with England Under-19s at the UEFA Euro Finals.
