James Morton has linked up with Grimsby Town for the rest of the 2020/21 season.
After making his City first team debut in the Carabao Cup Round One win against Exeter City earlier this month, the midfielder now joins fellow Robin Owura Edwards and continue his development with Ian Holloway’s Mariners in Sky Bet League Two.
Midfielder Morton, also a regular in the City Under-23s setup, spent the first half of last season on loan at fellow League Two outfit Forest Green Rovers, who he helped guide to a 10th-placed finish, following a previous loan spell with Bath City.
Only last September the 21-year-old pledged his future to Bristol City when he signed a four-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
The club will continue to watch Morton’s progress with Grimsby Town over the coming months and a January recall option is included in the loan move.
England international and World Cup winner, Sophie Halhead will join the Bears Women board ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
