Joe Morrell played the full 90 minutes as Wales Under-21s recorded a 2-1 win over a battling Lichtenstein.
The narrow victory in Bangor was of huge importance as it kept alive Wales’ slim hopes of qualifying for the 2019 European Championships.
George Thomas gave Robert Page’s side a two-goal advantage, before Liechtenstein scored only their second goal of the campaign 12 minutes from time through Lukas Graber.
Despite the three points, Wales remain fourth in their group and Liechtenstein sit bottom, two places below them.
The group winners will qualify for the summer finals in Italy and San Marino, while the runners-up will proceed to the play-offs if they are one of the four best runners-up from all nine groups.
Morrell and his teammates return to competitive action on Tuesday (September 11th, 6pm) when they face Portugal at Bangor.
