👀 A LOOK BACK: Crystal Palace Women 0-0 Bristol City Women (4-5 pens) (Weds, Dec 15th)

Last time out City Women extended their unbeaten run to eight games as they beat Crystal Palace 5-4 on penalties, after 90 minutes the sides were level at 0-0.

Just before the five-minute mark, there was a stoppage in play as a shot from Millie Farrow led to Fran Bentley colliding into the post. This led to an early change as Erin Foley came on to make her debut as she replaced the injured keeper.

City came inches away from opening the scoring in the 53rd minute as Ava Kuyken played a delightful diagonal ball to Madi Wilde who then laid it off to Melissa Johnson, her shot rose just over the bar and onto the roof of the net.

In the 66th minute Simran Jhamat had an excellent chance to put her side in front when she was played through on goal, her shot was saved by Morgan but it fell straight to Johnson. However, the City attacker couldn’t find the net as her attempt was blocked.

City goalkeeper, Erin Foley, continued her excellent debut with a great save to stop the Eagles striker, Baptise, slotting in a late winner for the home team.

With a draw after 90 minutes the game went to penalties and Morgan, Kuyken, Bull, Jhamat and Johnson saw City home after scoring from the spot.

Sunday’s Championship fixture sees City Women travel to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium in what will be 10th versus 5th with seven points separating the two sides.

Both teams come into this game off the back of contrasting results, City beating Crystal Palace 5-4 on penalties in the FA Continental Cup and Blackburn conceding six at home to Liverpool.

👀 ONE TO WATCH

SAFFRON JORDAN

Jordan has been at Blackburn since 2014 and has made 123 appearances for the club, netting 76 times.

Aside from scoring very regularly for her club the 28-year-old also works for the NHS.

Back in October 2021 the Manchester born forward was named in the ‘Her Football Hub’ Team of the Month.

The striker will be keen to get back to the form she showed in October after not scoring since the autumn period.
