McAllister salutes City graft

Jamie McAllister praised the City players for their efforts to be the fittest and strongest team in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Robins shrugged off the jet-lag in a swimming pool recovery session followed by football training, shuttle runs and a gym session at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

It amounted to a positive first day for the 30-man squad and Assistant Head Coach McAllister said: “It’s been a good session and the boys have worked hard, they are looking strong and fit – I certainly didn’t fancy that last run at the end myself but the boys nailed it on all four runs.

“It’s physical but the lads can handle it. We are just trying to push them and get them fitter and stronger for what is going to be a tough campaign in the Championship – and we plan to be fitter and stronger than everyone else.”

The skies were moody and threatening, including a 15-minute downpour mid afternoon but McAllister added: “It’s very warm and the humidity doesn’t help with the breathing but the lads got through it. They are a great group and the news players have settled in really well and the lads have helped them so it should be a good 10 days.”
