Nottingham Forest will be boosted by their Tuesday night win, Jamie McAllister has warned.
They ran out 3-0 winners against Barnsley to mark their second win in nine matches, heading into the penultimate weekend for the 2017/18 season.
But both Forest and City have endured patchy runs of form as they prepare to meet at the City Ground tomorrow (Saturday, April 28th, 3pm kick-off).
City assistant head coach McAllister told BCTV: "They are good side with good players so we know it will be tough.
"They beat Barnsley 3-0 on Tuesday night so that’s a big boost for them. Before that, they had only won one match in eight so it will be tough for both teams but we want the three points."
Those three points could be crucial to City's hopes of securing a top-six finish, which remains mathematically possible with two games remaining.
While City have fallen behind their promotion-chasing rivals of late, he believes the squad has progressed from last season who were battling at the opposite end of the season.
"We want to finish better and stronger and we still can," he continued.
"From where we were it’s been a bit up and down in the last few months but the positives are we have had a good Carabao Cup run, we can finish in the top ten, the top six maybe, so we will evaluate everything at the end of the season."
