🔎 Match Preview: Stoke City (A)

Take an in-depth look at how Bristol City match up against Stoke City as they travel to the Bet365 Stadium on Friday afternoon (3pm).

🔴 OURSELVES

The Robins head into the Good Friday fixture off the back of a 1-1 draw against 10-man Peterborough United at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Nigel Pearson will want his side to put the frustrations of Saturday's result aside and look to finish the season with some momentum that they can take into the new season.

Dan Bentley will be very keen to keep another clean sheet against the Potters after doing so back in November at Ashton Gate in the Robins' 1-0 win.

🧳 OUR OPPONENTS

Stoke come into this game off the back of a 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday with goals from Jacob Brown and Lewis Baker as well as an early own goal from Jake Livermore.

Michael O'Neill will want his side to finish the season positively as they look to make progress on their 14th-placed finish last season.

After netting in his last game for the Potters, Jacob Brown will want to add to his goalscoring tally as he looks to continue his best scoring season.

MATCH REWIND

Result: Stoke 0-2 Bristol City
When: 20.09.20
Competition: Championship

City struck late in each half to compile a first defeat of the season on Stoke City and maintain Dean Holden’s 100% record.

Jack Hunt’s cross towards the back post looked for Chris Martin who was crowded by red and white striped shirts, but he managed to nod the ball back across the goalmouth for Nahki Wells, who lashed home on the brink of half-time.

City doubled their lead with a minute to go and put the game beyond doubt. The move started with a goal kick, which Famara Diédhiou flicked on. Andreas Weimann had to battle to win the 50/50 with Danny Batth initially, the ball then fell kindly for Antoine Semenyo who squared it back to the unmarked Weimann and the forward kept a cool head before rolling the ball beyond Adam Davies.

👀 ONE TO WATCH

JACOB BROWN

Brown is having his best scoring season with 12 goals and five assists in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old started his senior career at Guiseley before a move to Barnsley in 2016 where he spent four years with a brief loan spell at Chesterfield in between. In September 2020 the forward then made the permanent switch to the Potters.

The forward also made his Scotland debut in a 2-0 win against Moldova when he came on as a late substitute back in November 2021.
