🔎 Match Preview: Blackburn Rovers (A)

Take an in-depth look at how City match up against Blackburn Rovers when they travel to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon (March 12th, 3pm).

🔴 OURSELVES

The Robins head into this game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City at Ashton Gate after two early goals gave the Blues a cushion in the first 13 minutes.

After three consecutive defeats Nigel Pearson will want to see his side get the three points as they travel to Ewood Park to take on Tony Mowbray's side.

The manager wants City to be solid in defence, telling Robins TV: “It'll be nice to get a solid defensive display from the team because I think that's the one thing that's really holding us back in the sense that we have conceded far too many soft goals, that can erode a players confidence a little bit.

"It will be interesting to see how we respond to the challenge, I think the players have had a few conversations themselves this week where they have talked about what they feel is necessary as well. I always think that's a really important part of any squad's development that they can be open and honest with themselves.

"Saturday's game will be a tough one for us, the game at our place was a 1-1 draw and I think we probably shaded it but they have gone on to have a very good season so far. We need to be a lot better than we have been.

"Apart from how we play and what the result is, it'll be interesting to see what the dynamics look like out on the field. I'm expecting us to be a bit more tenacious this weekend."

Timm Klose is fit despite coming off at half-time against Birmingham City but Tomas Kalas could be unavailable because of injury.

🧳 OUR OPPONENTS

Blackburn Rovers come into this game off the back of a 0-0 draw to Millwall on Tuesday night with just one win in their last eight games in all competitions.

Mowbray will want to see his side start to pick up form as they look to secure a play-off place come the end of the season.

With 20 goals in 30 Sky Bet Championship games this season it's clear to see that Rovers have struggled in recent games without the injured Ben Brereton-Diaz leading the line.

MATCH REWIND

Result: Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Bristol City
When: 09.02.19
Competition: Sky Bet Championship

Super sub Eros Pisano turned in from close range to gift City their eighth win in a row as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park.

The Robins had to deal with a large amount of Rovers pressure and had Frank Fielding to thank on occasion, as well as a hard to beat back four, while Famara Diédhiou was unlucky to see a header tipped over the crossbar.

Pisano replaced the booked Bailey Wright just after the hour-mark and was well-placed 10 minutes from time as he steered in Callum O’Dowda’s corner.
