Mariappa extends City stay

Adrian Mariappa will help the Robins kick on in the second half of the season.

The experienced defender has extended his stay in BS3 until the end of the season after arriving at City on a short-term deal in November.

Mariappa initially joined the Robins as a free agent until January after leaving Watford at the end of the last campaign, when the Hornets were relegated from the Premier League.

Since his arrival, the former Hornets man has made seven appearances in City colours, helping City go within four points of the top six.

Head Coach Dean Holden said: “We are pleased to have Mapps for the rest of the season. His quality and experience is invaluable and he’ll play an important part in what will be an exciting second half of the campaign.

“He’s bought into what we are trying to achieve and is a big influence on those around him, particularly the younger lads and that’s crucial.”

Mariappa and City’s 2021 starts with Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie with Portsmouth (January 10th, 1.30pm KO).

For supporters inside the UK only, the Pompey tie will be available to watch on The FA Player rather than Robins TV.

With all 32 Emirates FA Cup Third Round fixtures being broadcast live for the first time, City supporters inside the UK (not Republic of Ireland) can follow all the action from BS3 for free via The FA Player, exclusively delivered to homes by Deliveroo.
