🔎 MansionBet Match Preview: Huddersfield Town (H)

Take an in-depth look at how City match up against this weekend's opponents Huddersfield Town at Ashton Gate.

🔴 OURSELVES

City head into this game unbeaten in their last four home games, winning three, with manager Nigel Pearson keen to extend their unbeaten run as they come up against a Huddersfield side just three points above them in the table.

The Robins got a late equaliser on the weekend during their trip to Hull City and Pearson wants to see the same resilience as they aim to continue their good home form this Saturday.

This weekend's game marks the start of the Christmas fixtures and the halfway stage in the SkyBet Championship season.

Pearson told Robins TV: “We have been a little bit more consistent in some ways recently. It has been nice to get positive results at home because of our extended wait for those, and to come away from last week’s game with something is positive so we have to build on that now.

“We are making some progress but it’s important that in this next game against Huddersfield, who are in 10th place and only three points ahead of us, that we’re positive and take the game to our opponents.”

Andy King has been training fully, Alex Scott has recovered from the calf issued that forced him off against the Tigers, and Callum O'Dowda continues to be assessed for a groin injury while Joe Williams (hamstring) and Nathan Baker (concussion) are unavailable.

🧳  OUR OPPONENTS

Huddersfield Town come into this game with two losses and more recently two draws in their last four matches, their last victory coming against 3rd-placed West Bromwich Albion when they beat them 1-0 at home on November 20th.

The Terriers will be very determined to improve on their Championship 20/21 placing as they finished just six points above the drop zone last time out. So far this season they have certainly improved and now sit in 10th just five points off the play-offs.

Huddersfield's top scorer, Danny Ward (5), will be hoping to add to his tally after netting in their last match against Coventry (1-1).

MATCH REWIND

Result: Bristol City 5-2 Huddersfield Town
When: 30.11.19
Competition: Sky Bet Championship

On-field captain Josh Brownhill started the rout before Niclas Eliasson picked out what appeared to be a Nathan Baker header, though it officially went down as an own goal.

Karlan Grant would get one back before City took their chances. Eliasson was in super form to head in City’s third before whipping in a cross for Ashley Williams to head home and send the hosts 4-1 ahead at the break.

Andreas Weimann’s tidy finish got City off the mark in the second half, though Juninho Bacuna pulled a goal back shortly after with the Robins seeing out the 5-2 win to secure an eighth home game without defeat.

🎥 TAKE A LOOK BACK

👀 ONE TO WATCH

LEVI COLWILL

The 18-year-old defender (pictured left) has made 17 Sky Bet Championship appearances this season, making quite an impact since joining on loan from Chelsea in the summer.

The Southampton-born youngster has won an average of 3.6 ariel duels, winning nine battles in the game away to Cardiff at the start of November, giving his manager no choice but to start him regularly.

Colwill has shown his defensive abilities throughout the season but first earned his praise with the fans on just his fourth start in the league for Huddersfield after he scored a 94th minute equaliser away to Sheffield United.

This is Levi’s first loan spell away from Chelsea, but he is showing exactly why he has been with them since 2011.

The teenager has also made three appearances for England Under 19s, keeping three clean sheets and netting against Sweden back in November.
