Magnusson's Iceland need Ukraine win

Hordur Magnusson’s chances of reaching the 2018 World Cup with Iceland were dealt a huge blow on Saturday.

The City defender featured as Iceland slipped to a 1-0 defeat in Finland, seeing them drop out of the qualifying positions for Russia next summer.

Iceland have just three games left, starting tomorrow (Tuesday) against second-placed Ukraine in Reykjavik.

With a fixture in Turkey to follow in October, plus a home banker versus Kosovo, the Ukraine clash is something of a must-win.

Elsewhere, Callum O’Dowda was an unused substitute for Republic of Ireland in their 1-1 draw in Georgia.

Loan recruit Jonathan Leko was a second-half substitute as England Under-19s thrashed Poland 7-1 on Friday evening.
