Milan Djuric has revealed he was sold on the move to Ashton Gate by former team-mate Hordur Magnusson.
The pair were together for two seasons at Cesena in Italy when Magnusson was on loan from Juventus, with Djuric now departing the Serie B club after seven years to reunite with City’s Icelandic international.
For the 6ft 6in Bosnian, the lure of the Bristol City “family” made BS3 the perfect destination to complete his dream move to England.
“I’m very happy to sign for Bristol City. It’s a good club with good fans,” he told Bristol City Player HD in an exclusive first interview.
“It’s always been a dream to play in England. I think English football is better than in Europe.
“I played with Magnusson at Cesena for two years. I spoke with him and he told me Bristol is a fantastic city and that it’s a family I should join.
“I played in Cesena for seven years but I think it was the right time to leave. The move to Bristol City is an exciting one for me and I’m ready to play now.”
The imposing centre-forward feels his strengths are tailor-made for the English game.
“I will always play for the team,” he added. “The Championship is a very physical division and I’m ready for that.
“It’s not a good situation at the moment but I’ve been watching the games on the club’s YouTube channel and I think we have a good team.”
City are awaiting international clearance for both Djuric and fellow oversees arrival Jens Hegeler ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup third round tie with Fleetwood Town at Ashton Gate.
Djuric will wear squad number 22, while Hegeler takes number 31.
Tickets for the Fleetwood tie are available at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Supporters can buy online or call 0117 963 0600.
