One lucky City fan received the gift of a lifetime at Ashton Gate yesterday.
Lucy Sparks collected a signed shirt from Matty Taylor after a two-week Twitter campaign.
The 26-year-old had engaged in a Twitter conversation with the striker, asking for his shirt on the final day of the campaign. Taylor responded by challenging her to get 1,000 retweets – and then it would be hers.
Sparks achieved her target on the evening before City’s clash with Birmingham City and was invited pitchside to claim her prize.
Taylor presented the supporter with his matchworn away shirt, personally signed, ahead of the match.
"I knew I had crossed the 1,000 mark when I was out on Saturday night with my friends so we had a few extra drinks to celebrate,” said a delighted Sparks.
“I got to meet Matty and had my picture taken before speaking about the retweet challenge. He gave me an away shirt which he had signed.”
Taylor later went to claim the Champagne Moment of the Season award from supporters for his decision to switch Bristol Rovers for City in January.
