Loughborough training camp confirmed

City will visit Loughborough University in July for a pre-season training camp.

Nigel Pearson and his coaching staff will continue to prepare the squad for the 2021/22 campaign during a five-day trip.

Previewing the visit to Loughborough, Pearson told Robins TV: “I think the simple exercise of being off-site and being somewhere different, we as a group of players and staff have to spend more time together and live together and I think that’s always an opportunity to get to know people and bond.

“It also means you can extend the training days. We will probably get three sessions a day in which might amuse some of our players but they’ll get used to it!”

Prior to that trip City’s players will be put through their paces at the Robins High Performance Centre, which kicks-off as early as this week.

The group are required to attend a day of testing today (June 17th) or Friday (June 18th), before pre-season formally begins on June 28th - and there’s certainly an incentive for the players to impress.

Pearson added: “Players are athletes these days, or should be, so hopefully they will come back with the bit between their teeth.

“We have testing days next week and if they meet the requirements they get another week off and if they don’t, they’re in, so it’s simple.”
