Loan watch: Quick-thinking Smith helps Town win

Winger Jonny Smith grabbed an assist in Swindon Town’s 2-1 win over Hull City on Saturday.

Town came from behind to win, as the Tigers fell to a third defeat in Sky Bet League One.

Smith’s assist set up the equaliser at the Energy Check County Ground, where his corner caught out the slow-to-react Tigers and teammate Paul Caddis rifled the ball into the net.

It’s an important win for Swindon who linger just above the relegation zone, while Hakeeb Adelakun’s Hull City remain one point off the top of the table.

There was an FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round victory for Dorchester Town, with goalkeeper Will Buse featuring between the sticks in the 2-1 win and George Nurse played the full 90 in Walsall’s 1-1 draw away with Mansfield Town.

But Robbie Cundy’s Cambridge United slipped to a 2-1 defeat and Louis Britton came off the bench to make his Stockport County debut though it was a 2-1 defeat in the National League at home to Weymouth.

In Scotland, Marley Watkins featured in Aberdeen’s 2-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic.
