Shawn McCoulsky scored his fourth goal for Newport County in a 2-1 loss to Swansea U23s in the Chekatrade Trophy.
The 20-year-old striker headed in the equalising goal but could not save his side from crashing out of the competition.
The young Swans took the lead through Kenji Gorre on 70 minutes before McCoulsky rose to convert a Scot Bennett cross just five minutes later - his first goal since August 8th.
The game appeared to be heading for penalties but heartbreak struck for the hosts with eight minutes to go when Jay Foulston accidentally diverted a cross into his own goal.
Cameron Pring has returned to BS3 after his two-month loan spell at Merthyr Town.
The young left-back was managed by former City midfielder Gavin Williams, who took the reins at Penydarren Park just over a year ago.
Willliams told the Merthyr Town website: "I would like to thank Cameron for his commitment during his time with us, and Bristol City for allowing him to come to us on loan. I think it has been beneficial for all parties and wish Cameron all the best on his return to Bristol."
