Loan Watch: Dowling nets to end Gulls' drought

Loanees George Dowling and Zak Vyner enjoyed big wins at the weekend.

Dowling was on the scoresheet as Torquay United overcame Barrow 3-1 at Plainmoor, winning for the first time in 11 matches.

Connor Lemonheigh-Evans replaced Dowling to make his Gulls debut in the 76th minute.

Vyner, meanwhile, helped Plymouth Argyle to a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, who arrived at Home Park 18 matches unbeaten.

Joe Morrell helped Cheltenham Town earn a 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town, but Taylor Moore missed out through suspension and Jake Andrews had to withdraw due to the birth of his first child!

Shawn McCoulsky was a second-half substitute for Newport County in their 2-0 defeat at Colchester United.

In non-league football, Jonny Smith’s AFC Fylde drew 2-2 with Eastleigh, while Bath City defeated Hampton & Richmond Borough 2-0 at Twerton Park, with apperances for James Morton and Antoine Semenyo.

Cameron Pring’s Hereford FC ran out 4-2 winners away at Farnborough, who had Denis Begović on the bench.

It was a day to forget for Aaron Parsons and Ash Harper, however, as Weston were thrashed 5-1 at Whitehawk.
