Loan Watch: Akpobire shines on debut

Kel Akpobire made an impressive debut for Guernsey FC but was unable to stop the Green Lions slipping to defeat.

The 1-0 reverse against Chipstead was Guernsey’s tenth game without a win in the Isthmian League Division One South.

"He did really well up front on his debut and bonded well with the lads," Guernsey manager Tony Vance said of his new signing.

"His hold-up play was outstanding and he was a real threat."

Elsewhere, Ashley Harper and Aaron Parsons were victorious with Weston-super-Mare, winning 4-2 against Bath City, who featured Antoine Semenyo and James Morton in their team.

Semenyo provided a late assist for Ryan Case’s goal.

There was disappointment for Cameron Pring’s Hereford FC, who saw a 2-0 overturned to lose 3-2 at King’s Lynn. Pring was substituted with the scores locked at 2-2, moments before the hosts’ late winner.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Denis Begovic has joined Farnborough FC on a ‘work experience’ loan.
