Mark Little isn’t playing down the importance of tomorrow’s home game with MK Dons at Ashton Gate (3pm).
The right wing-back is relishing the encounter with the team that finished as runners-up behind City in the Sky Bet League One title race last term.
At present both teams – along with League One play-off victors Preston North End – occupy the relegation zone heading into the tenth league match of the campaign.
Little told Bristol City Player HD: “People will say it’s a six-pointer but the league will change a lot in the weeks ahead.
“It is important we start getting wins under our belts though. We know we’ll jump above them with a win tomorrow.
“We won’t get too carried with the ‘six-pointer’ line, but it is important.”
The Dons come to Ashton Gate on the back of a five-game losing run, but Little doesn’t anticipate them making wholesale changes to their play and personnel.
He added: “I remember facing MK in one of my earliest games in professional football. It was a cup match and they played exactly as they do today.
“I can’t see MK Dons changing their way of playing. Even the players they bring in to replace the ones they let go play a similar style. They’ve done it for a long time and it’s led to success.
“It’ll be a tough game, we don’t expect anything less. However, if we perform like we’re capable of then we should be okay.”
