Little Fit To Face Cardiff

Lee Johnson has confirmed Mark Little is fit again after hamstring trouble.

Lee Johnson has confirmed Mark Little is fit again after hamstring trouble.

The defender hobbled out of City’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United a fortnight ago, but is back in training ahead of Friday night’s televised Severnside derby clash in Cardiff.

Taylor Moore and Josh Brownhill both filled the right-back position in his absence.

“Mark Little has trained over the past two or three days and looked as good as gold,” Johnson told Bristol City Player HD.

“Now there’s competition – do you play Taylor Moore, Josh Brownhill, Mark Little or Adam Matthews? It’ll be difficult, but we’ll try to make the right choice.”

Matthews featured alongside Korey Smith in Monday’s Under-23 match between City and Sheffield Wednesday at Ashton Gate, with both men in contention to return to first team action.

“I was quite pleased with both of their performances for different reasons,” the head coach continued.

“It was a good game and I enjoyed the performance. It was the second time the Under-23s have shown the real identity that we’re about, so all credit goes to the young players for that.”

The boss revealed Gustav Engvall is also back in training after injury, but stopped short of declaring his squad fully-fit for the trip to South Wales.

“There are a couple of little niggles and people who aren’t feeling too well,” Johnson added.

“Hopefully we’ve got enough time to make whoever’s not right ok in time for Friday.”

A 2,000-strong away support is expected at Cardiff City Stadium. It is all-ticket for away fans, with tickets remaining on sale until 12.30pm on the day of the game. Call 0117 963 0600 to buy yours today.
