Mark Little is delighted to be reacquainted with his old team-mate Lee Tomlin.
The right-back spent four years with City’s latest loan recruit at Peterborough United before both moved on from London Road in 2014.
Tomlin has joined City on loan from Premier League Bournemouth until the end of the season, and Little feels the forward-thinking 27-year-old will have a positive effect on the group.
“I’m absolutely buzzing,” he told Bristol City Player HD.
“I was surprised and I thought he was having me on! I still didn’t believe him until I saw him being interviewed and holding up shirts.
“He’s certainly a top-end Championship player and has capabilities of playing in the Premier League, which is why Bournemouth signed
him.
“He’s shown in training that he’s extremely good, and I guarantee he’ll be a big help to this team. He knows the league inside out and is a great addition.”
Birmingham City are tomorrow’s visitors to Ashton Gate (3pm kick-off), and are the second side in three games to be a former rival of Little’s.
The ex-Wolves man played in just one West Midland derby against the Blues whilst at Molineux, but has other reasons to be more up the match than most.
“I had a pre-season at Blues and I didn’t end up signing for them so it’s another personal game for me,” he said.
“I have a couple of good friends there I used to live with. I was in digs with Stephen Gleeson for three years and it looks like I could be up against David Davis on my side; I was with him at Wolves for five or six years so it’ll be a good game to come back into.”
