Henri Lansbury hopes his experience can help City “get over the line” as he links up with Dean Holden’s side for the rest of the season.
The midfielder joins the Robins with an impressive CV which included promotions to the Premier League with Norwich City, West Ham United and Aston Villa.
Lansbury, 30, has put pen to paper on a short-term deal having become a free agent upon leaving Villa after four years.
“I’m so excited to be here, it’s a new challenge with a great squad, an exciting manager and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season,” said Lansbury in his first interview with Robins TV.
“I can only bring my experience. You can see the team spirit here hence why I always hated coming to Ashton Gate! Definitely my experience will be key and hopefully I can help the younger lads and help us over the line.”
Promotion to the top flight is the aim for City and they are in touching distance of the play-offs, with Lansbury arriving on the eve a trip to Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship for Dean Holden’s men this weekend.
“Dean’s an exciting manager,” said Lansbury, as he opened up on the interactions with his new manager. “I spoke to him and he gave a great impression of both himself and the team and I look forward to coming and putting my stamp on the club.
“He told me he wants to get to the Premier League. There is a great squad here, hence why I signed and I looking forward to starting with them and pushing us up the table.
“It’s a tough task to get there but with the squad we have I’m very much looking forward to helping them to see if we can get there.”
Lansbury, who describes himself as an “exciting midfielder” who “always looks forwards” with the aim to assist or score, now links up with former teammates from previous clubs - Jamie Paterson, Adrian Mariappa and Nathan Baker.
“I’ve had some good times with them and I’m looking forward to it and enjoying myself,” continued Lansbury. “I think I spent more time with Pato at Forest. I liked to link up with him and then at Watford with Adrian he’d always shout at me because he was older! He was always having a go at me to do more, to push on which I liked at the time but now I think I can hold my own and shout back at him now!”
And Lansbury is set to become the newest figure to experience the all-new state-of-the art training complex at Failand, once works are completed by mid-March. But again, he is excited to get in there and is encouraged by photos and video footage of the development so far!
He said: “It looks incredible. It looks like a fantastic training ground to be at day in, day out - it’s amazing to be able to train somewhere like that.”
