Jonathan Kodjia has been called up to the Ivory Coast squad for the first time.
Kodjia has proved a revelation since making the move from French club SCO Angers last summer, scoring 20 goals in his first season in England and becoming a big hit with the City supporters.
The Paris-born striker, whose family hail from the West African country, cites Ivorian icons Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure as his football heroes.
The Elephants are the reigning champions of their continent and will face Hungary in a friendly in Budapest on Friday, with Kodjia hoping to make his international debut.
City head coach Lee Johnson said: “It is just reward – Jimmy has had a fantastic season and he deserves this recognition.
“I’m delighted for him and I know the players and staff are delighted for him too.
“It’s been an ambition of his and it’s a proud moment for him and his family to be called up to what is a very good national team.”
