Chris Martin saluted the Cider Army with a Klinsmann dive as they braved the rain to cheer the Robins on to a 3-2 win over Peterborough United.
Martin scored City’s 84th-miute winner – a beauty from the edge of the box followed by a celebratory Jürgen Klinsmann-style chest slide – to send the 1,200 travelling fans crazy.
“It was an end-to-end game, really open, great for the neutrals but nail-biting for the managers and staff on the side of the pitch.
“It was special to do the Klinsmann celebration in front of them. There was no other day so perfect for it after the amount of rain we’ve had to do and to see them in full voice and send them home happy was really special for us.
“It’s nice to have that bond with the supporters especially after them having to be away from watching for so long.”
There are no matches next week due to the international break, which involves a handful of City’s players across the age groups.
The Robins will then host AFC Bournemouth in two weeks’ time, with tickets on sale now (October 16th, 3pm).
The Matthew Bromley memorial basketball games will take place from 4pm on Saturday, May 28th at the SGS College Arena.
