Kirk Targets WSL2 Title

Bristol City Women head coach Willie Kirk has revealed his target is the WSL2 title and not just promotion.

The Vixens were relegated from the top division last season and were installed favourites to bounce back at the first attempt.

Kirk’s side currently sit fourth in the league and the Scotsman believes his squad are talented enough to finish first.

“We’re more than capable of doing it,” he said.

“We made the girls well aware Everton bounced straight back up when they were relegated and I firmly believe we will do it too.

"I’ll be disappointed if we don’t win the title let alone promotion.”

City are back in action for the first time in just over a month when Oxford United travel to Stoke Gifford Stadium on Saturday (6pm).

The home fixture starts a period of three games in a week and Kirk feels it is vital his players hit the ground running.

He said: “It’s important we start really well because we have two very important league games (in four days). 

“If we can take maximum points from them, then it gives us a platform to go and build for the second half of the season.”
