Kirk proud of City Women trio at Euro 2017

City Women trio Chloe Arthur, Frankie Brown and Yana Daniëls will return home from Euro 2017 this weekend after representing Belgium and Scotland respectively.

The trio have earned some well-deserved rest before they return to the club in August, ready for pre-season training ahead of the club’s return to WSL 1.

Arthur and Brown were involved in all three of Scotland’s matches, losing their first two fixtures, they rounded off their tournament with an impressive 1-0 victory over Spain last night.

Daniëls was also involved in all three of Belgium’s fixtures, they also lost two fixtures, with their victory coming over Norway, 2-0.

City Women Manager Willie Kirk is proud of his players but is also excited to get them integrated back into the club and pre-season training.

He said “It’s been great to see our players playing on a world stage in a major tournament and I think they’ve given a fantastic account of themselves.

“Our supporters wouldn’t have maybe seen Yana play before and this gave them an opportunity to see what a talent she is and I look forward to welcoming her into the set-up here.

“Chloe was on standby at the start of the tournament, for her to step up and play out of position the way she did is testament to her character and she handled it brilliantly.”
