Kick It Out seeks award applicants

Applications are now open for Kick It Out's Equality and Diversity Awareness in Football Award.

The distance learning course, which was established in 2015, enhances the professional development of those aspiring to work in, or currently working in, the football industry.

The pioneering award, run in partnership with Southampton Solent University, can not only advance career progression but also help improve equality and diversity in the workplace.

Consisting of six units, it educates the future leaders of football on Kick It Out’s work within all sectors of the game as the organisation seeks to develop inclusive practices.

The course is tutored by academics at Southampton Solent University, who offer one-on-one support until completion. Experts in equality and diversity within football are also on hand to advise.

Previous students include former footballers and managers, as well as full-time educational workers within the game.

Education officer at Kick It Out and a graduate of the award, Osei Sankofa, said: “This course is perfect for anybody looking to further their understanding of equality and inclusion issues within the football industry.

“It also serves as a valuable tool in helping to reflect on existing practices and procedures.”

The next course begins on Monday, October 15th.

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You should be working or volunteering within the football industry, or studying full-time for a qualification related to work in football
  • You must be able to commit to completing 8 to 15 hours of work online across six to eight weeks between October and December

For more information and to apply, send an application form with a 500-word statement on why you want to study the course to osei@kickitout.org.

This must include a copy of photo ID (passport or driving license).

The deadline for applications is Sunday, September 16th.
