Kerkdijk enjoying Vixens experience

City Women defender Danique Kerkdijk says she is looking forward to making an impact in WSL 1, after arriving from FC Twente this summer.

Prior to arriving, the 21-year-old had spent her entire career in Holland. She has made eight appearances for the national team to date and is now looking forward to testing herself at WSL 1 level.

Speaking for the first time since arriving, Krekdijk said: “I have loved every minute so far; it’s a really good group and Bristol is a beautiful city.

“I was here for the Chelsea game during the Spring Series and I was really impressed with the facilities here at SGS College and the style the team play.

“As a player I pride myself on my distribution and running with the ball; that is the way the team want to play so I think Bristol City will suit my style of play.”

After seeing her country lift the Euro trophy this summer, the defender is excited to experience the atmosphere at the Stoke Gifford Stadium on a matchday.

Kerkdijk added “The Euros was amazing. I am really proud of my colleagues for how well they did and I can confirm it was one big party afterwards.

“I hope I can bring a lot to this club and make the fans proud every time I take to the pitch.”
