Kemppi ready for ‘tough’ test as Oxtoby’s side prepare for Manchester City

Juliette Kemppi believes Bristol City Women are ready for their toughest test of the season so far when they welcome Manchester City to the West Country in round 3 of the Continental Cup on Sunday (3pm). 

City Women have started their Continental Cup campaign well, having picked up a 2-2 draw away to Leicester and a 3-1 home victory over Sheffield United and the striker believes that if the everyone does their individual roles well, the desired squad performance will come. 

“They’re going to be really good side, so we’re going to have to perform to the best we can and I think if we all do our own jobs on Sunday we will perform well. 

“Manchester City which will be our toughest game so far this season so it will be a good test.”, said Kemppi. 

City Women have been working hard throughout the past week as they prepare for a tough run of games which sees them play three game in seven days, hosting Manchester City and champions, Chelsea as well as facing an away trip to the blue side of Manchester next Sunday.

Kemppi leads the line for the City Women, but she is also the first line of defence for Oxtoby’s side bringing bundles of energy and enthusiasm when on defensive duties and she believes the hard work they have put in so far this season will stand them in good stead heading into Sunday’s fixture. 

“Everyone has trained really well, we have been working hard as a group to push each other everyday and we have put a lot of effort into our defensive work and we have seen the rewards of that so far this season.”

Since arriving this summer from Norwegian side, LSK Kvinner FK, Kemppi has played every minute of every game for Oxtoby’s side and she feels the style off football the City Women are wanting to play really suits her game. 

“I have really enjoyed my time at Bristol so far, the style of football we’re looking to play really suits me and allows me to play to my strengths,” she continued, “as the season goes on I believe it will allow me to perform well and do good things in a Bristol City shirt.”
