Keep The Momentum Building - O'Donnell

Richard O’Donnell says he feels momentum is building at Ashton Gate after the team recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

The goalkeeper, who recently joined the club permanently from Wigan Athletic after a successful loan switch, has recorded three clean sheets in his last five games.

The mini run of three wins in five matches has seen City build a five-point gap from the relegation zone – and now they face MK Dons on Saturday, a team only ahead of Lee Johnson’s side in the table on goal difference.

“It feels like momentum is building. We’re unbeaten in the last three games and we need to keep this run going,” O’Donnell told Bristol City Player HD.

“Lee Johnson has come in and he wants us to be positive, to attack and put on a show for the fans.

“We’ve still got to be right defensively and be brave, but it’s about enjoying our football and embracing the challenge ahead.

“MK Dons will be tough on Saturday. However, we’ll prepare right during the week.

“We need to win as many games as possible, of course, but it does make a big difference in the league table if you can beat the teams around you – as we found after the win at Charlton.”

City’s last victory came on Saturday against Ipswich Town, when Aden Flint headed a first-half brace to build on the six-pointer win at Charlton Athletic seven days earlier.

“Every result at the moment is massive for us,” O’Donnell added.

“We defended really well when we needed to, with everyone putting their body on the line when needed.

“Since I arrived I think we’ve been defending really well and Saturday was no different. I didn’t have much to do in the first half and there were only a couple of saves to make after half-time.

“The first save was one where the lad has tried to hit it as hard as possible and I managed to get a strong hand to the ball. The second was more of a reaction stop. Any save is a good save!

“It was just a real team effort, as it has been throughout this run that we’ve been on.”
