Todd Kane’s shoulder injury is not as bad as first feared.
The on-loan Chelsea defender limped out of Sunday’s 1-0 FA Cup win over AFC Telford United after being poleaxed by Godfrey Poku.
Although Kane will sit out tomorrow’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie with Coventry City, his absence won’t be long term.
Manager Steve Cotterill told Bristol City Player: “Todd has spent two days with Chelsea getting treatment.
“Scott Wagstaff’s shoulder injury last season was a grade three; this is only a grade one, so it’s not going to be a long-term injury.
“We’ll know more by Thursday when we begin to look ahead to [the league game with] Crawley.”
Wade Elliott is available again after completing his three-match suspension, while Matt Smith has been given permission to play by his parent club Fulham.
