Lee Johnson is wary of the attacking threat posed by Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate tomorrow (3pm).
Lee Johnson is wary of the attacking threat posed by Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate tomorrow (3pm).
Forest find themselves in the bottom half of the Sky Bet Championship table, with their ten league matches to date having yielded a total of 38 goals.
Only Newcastle United, Norwich City and Barnsley have scored more than Forest’s 18, but only basement club Rotherham United have conceded more.
“They’re a side who have got some outstanding individuals,” Johnson told Bristol City Player HD.
“If you let them play, they will pick you open because they’ve got good players who will inevitably find a route to your goal.
“In any game you’ve got to try to exploit gaps. I don’t think Nottingham Forest have any more gaps than any other team – it’s about how you affect the opposition with your movement and how you impose yourselves on the game.
“More often than not we’ve had spells in games when we’ve been effective, but in every game we’ve been dominated at certain points by the opposition.
“It’s all about staying strong at those moments and punishing the opposition when you’re on top.”
Victory in BS3 would bring up City’s fourth on the spin going into the two-week break for international fixtures.
“That would be a good effort,” Johnson added. “But as we’ve said it’s early days.
“It’s good to have an international break as long as you’re on a high, but I honestly haven’t even thought about the break yet – I’ve only thought about this massive game on Saturday.”
City go in search of a fourth consecutive victory when they host Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate on Saturday (3pm). Tickets are available on general sale by phone on 0117 963 0600 and online.
