Johnson Up For Monthly Award

Lee Johnson has been nominated for Sky Bet Championship manager of the month for August.

The head coach, who was shortlisted for the monthly accolade back in February, is up against Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom, Nigel Clough of Burton Albion and Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner.

Johnson led City to three wins out of five league games in the opening month, beginning with a 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic on the first day of the season.

A last-gasp Tammy Abraham goal earned City victory at Burton before narrow defeats against two of the teams relegated from the Premier League in Norwich City and Newcastle United.

City ended the month in a play-off position after a half-time team talk from Johnson inspired his side to a 3-1 comeback win against Aston Villa.

The winner will be announced tomorrow.
