Lee Johnson has rubbished persistent rumours of bids for his star performers.
The City head coach was quizzed on the back of continuing speculation linking the likes of Joe Bryan and Aden Flint with moves away from Ashton Gate.
However, Johnson put the record straight on BCTV in the wake of the 3-0 pre-season victory at Cheltenham Town.
He said: “We haven’t had any bids.
“Sometimes it’s agents trying to create a market and sometimes it’s clickbait headlines trying to generate advertising money.
“It’s not always conducive to the players’ focus, but they’re two good lads and there’s nothing in it.”
Meanwhile, Johnson fielded an unnamed trialist for the final 18 minutes of the convincing win at Whaddon Road.
The City boss wouldn’t reveal his name, but did give hints, saying he was “an 18-year-old…who has played a lot of non-league football.”
Johnson added that the trialist was someone who was being looked at as a potential addition to the Under-23 development group.
Pat Lam was full of praise for a rocking atmosphere at Ashton Gate as Bears secured a bonus point victory.
