Lee Johnson believes Bristol City and Brentford are evenly-matched heading into tomorrow’s Sky Bet Championship encounter at Griffin Park (3pm).
Five points currently separate the two teams in the table, with the Bees in 13th place. Victory in West London could be enough to guarantee survival for the Robins, but it would also see them edge closer towards a mid-table position.
Johnson told Bristol City Player HD: “I’ve come up against Dean Smith’s sides before. He’s done well as a manager and fully deserved his move into the Championship.
“They’re a good side; they play a nice, expansive game and have won three on the spin. They’ve got energy, especially high up the pitch so we will have to be economical with the ball.
“We must compete with them on a work-rate basis because they’re probably one of the hardest-working sides that I’ve seen in terms of a front six.
“I think the teams are evenly-matched and it’ll be a good game tomorrow.”
He added: “We want to finish as high up the table as possible and we can cut the gap between us and Brentford with a win.
“That’ll certainly be mentioned to the players, but to be honest it’s coming from them just as much. It’s a real positive that the players are determined and hungry to improve our positon in the table as much as possible between now and the end of the season.
“We’ve got another sell-out crowd behind us and we’ll be working hard to send them home happy.”
Max O’Leary has been recalled from his loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers as Frank Fielding has been ruled out for the season with ankle ligament damage.
Aaron Wilbraham is being assessed for a calf problem, but Lee Tomlin should shake off a knock to be available for selection.
