Johnson 'pleased' with Diédhiou return

City head coach Lee Johnson was delighted with the return of club record signing Famara Diédhiou on Friday night.

He was a half-time substitute in the 0-0 draw at Pride Park, where he gave City a new dimension in attack.

It was his first City appearance for three months, after he suffered knee ligament damage against Crystal Palace on October 24th.

Diédhiou, who signed for City from Angers for £5.3m last summer, returned to full training a week ago.

Speaking to BCTV after the final whistle at Derby, Johnson said: "I was pleased with Famara. He's been out for 12 weeks, training for three or four days and he gave us a new platform.

"He was a bit rusty with the sharpness in his feet but that will come back.

"That's definitely as expected, particularly as I beat him at head tennis," he joked.

"It's great to have him back and the lads have just given him a great round of applause because they know he has put a shift in, given that he has been out for long."
