Johnson pleased with chance to bounce back

Lee Johnson is pleased to have a chance to quickly put defeat to Wolves behind the team when they return to action at Aston Villa tomorrow (5.30pm).

The New Year’s Day game comes just 48 hours after City’s 2-1 last-gasp defeat, suffered at the hands of the league leaders.

The City head coach told BCTV: “We have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and go again at Villa.

“I think it’s a good thing that it comes so quickly after the Wolves defeat.

“We just have to keep going. We can’t be too down because we have to bounce back quickly.”

Villa are within touching distance of the play-offs after their victory at Middlesbrough.

Johnson added: “You’d expect Vila to go again in January (in the transfer window) to bolster all the talent they already have.

“The Championship is so cut-throat and everyone wants instant success, particularly if expectation is high. Steve Bruce has a great track record and is a very good manager."

Fans are reminded that the Villa Park encounter is SOLD OUT. A beamback will take place at Ashton Gate.
