Johnson hopeful on Smith return

Lee Johnson remains hopeful that central midfielder Korey Smith will be available for selection against Nottingham Forest.

Forest travel to Ashton Gate for the Sky Bet Championship encounter on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

But Smith is an injury doubt after being on the receiving end of a John Fleck challenge at Sheffield United last Friday.

Smith left Bramall Lane on crutches.

City head coach Johnson told BCTV: "We're hopeful on Korey. He sustained a nasty gash and hopefully just bone bruising.

"We'll get him out there over the next couple of days and see how he is.

"We'll give him a bit of a cuddle, a bit of love and I'm sure Korey will try and be the hero and want to be out there," he joked.
