Lee Johnson hailed City trip to Guernsey FC a success and thanked the Channel Island club for their kind hospitality.
The City head coach was delighted with the way his players and staff were treated at Footes Lane, where Bobby Reid’s goal proved decisive.
After seven days of hard graft on the Failand training pitches, Johnson was pleased to give his charges a run out in a match scenario.
City dominated both possession and chances in the contest, but found themselves thwarted time and time again by the Green Lions and their outstanding goalkeeper Josh Addison.
Johnson told BCTV: “I’m pleased with the run out for the lads. They’ve had 45 minutes each and got a good sweat on.
“Our finishing and crossing left a little to be desired; we just need to turn our possession into more goals.
“It was great defending by Guernsey. You see their boys walking off the pitch feeling their legs, but they’ve given everything.
“I thought they had Gordon Banks in goal at one point! He’s had the game of his life and fair play to him.”
He added: “It’s been a great day. The hospitality has been amazing since we landed in Guernsey. Everyone has looked after us and it’s been a great atmosphere.
“We even had a few fans travel out here today – it’s amazing. It never ceases to amaze me how they turn up everywhere and it’s great to see. I know the players appreciate it.”
