Johnson asks City to bring their A-game

Lee Johnson says his players can play with confidence away to Blackburn Rovers as they focus on playing their own game.

The head coach has also reminded his players they are only as good as their last display as he wars against complacency.

“The players are giddy and that’s a good thing but in football we know you are only as good as your last performance,” Johnson said.

“Everybody is confident and we have to go into this game against Blackburn confident because of our preparation, not be complacent because of things in the past.

“I’m looking forward to it, Blackburn are a good side, an honest group of players who are led by a good manager. They’re very organised and it will be a very good, honest Championship game.”

City turned on the style in their home clash against Rovers back in September – a 4-1 win at Ashton Gate – and that’s more of what Johnson wants to see at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Johnson continued: “We have qualities and it’s important we really take the game to the opposition, play our game very well and that is what I will be challenging my players to do.

“If we do that then we will cause any team in this division a problem, nullifying a very good attack force is important but we have our own threats and we need to bring our A-game.”

Blackburn Rovers v City kicks off at 3pm.
